Two months ago I stumbled upon this company called Blik Surface Graphics in O Magazine, and decided to check out their website. I was so taken by their gorgeous decals that I decided to order some for our home (after consulting with my husband, who was a very good sport about the whole thing =).

The decals arrived some time ago, but we’ve been too busy to do anything about them. This past weekend, we finally got round to putting up the first of the lot. It took us almost three hours (!!), but it was a fun time.

So here is a little post about our decal-mounting exercise…

Here are the decal sheets, which were sent to me all rolled up in carboard tubing:

First, we had to cut the decals into separate pieces. Hard work!

Then we had to squeeze all the air bubbles out…

Next we had to stick the pieces up on the wall to get a sense of the positioning…

After that we had to take all the pieces down again (yes, very painful), marking the positions with tape as we went along.

Then we had to peel the paper backing off the decal sheets, and bring the sticky paper back to the walls to put up the decals for real.

We pasted the sticky paper back on the wall based on the points marked out by tape, then slowly peeled at it to leave just the decals on the wall.

And after hours of careful hard work, our masterpiece was complete:

A fun (albeit tiring family project), and a relatively inexpensive way to bring a fresh and pretty burst of character to the home =) Most satisfying!

This is gorgeous. Great taste on the design! I’m also seeking decals for my glass panel in my kitchen that guests keep walking into! Shall check the site out.

Cool =) The Singapore stores I’ve found selling decals online are generally quite a bit cheaper, but I haven’t found any whose stuff I like… If you’re using VPOST or some other shipping service be sure to pool with some friends so you can split shipping costs. That’s what I did!
